Bert,

I have a Model 64 manufactured in 1940. 1 of 66,783 rifles. 24" barrel, Plain Stock, Good to Excellent condition, never drilled for scope, stored and not fired since 1997. Dismantled, cleaned and reassembled immediately after last firing.

Would you please reply and let me know a range of value. Serial # 1114747

Photos attached.

You are watching: Winchester model 64 30-30

Thank you for your time.

Hello Doc,

The good news is that your Model 64 Sporting rifle is several years older than you think... it was actually manufactured in September of 1936.

Unfortunately, the rest of my news is not so good.

(1) The butt stock is not factory original (it is a poor reproduction replacement).

(2) The receiver frame and the barrel have been reblued.

(3) The rear sight is not original (a non-factory replacement).

(4) The front sight hood is missing.

The overall graded condition is "Fair" at best, and the value is approximately $400.

Bert H.

Thanks for the heads-up Bert. Appears someone did a lot of work to a classic rifle for no good reason.

Hello. Interesting line of posts. I also have one of these and could not believe the prices I saw online! Mine is also a 30-30 but not sure much more about it. I am looking at trading in as i have not used it much at all. I think mine is all orginal with minor pitting if that. LMK. thanks!

Austin

Hello Austin,

Which variation Model 64 do you have? What is the serial number (so I can determine when it was manufactured)?

The high $$$$ asking prices you see online are often times somebody"s wishful thinking. Most of them do not sell for that kind of money, which is why some of them have been listed (and relisted) for sale online for several years.

Thanks. I figured $3,000 was a little high! I think the serial # starts with 184 or 187...I will get more info on it later for you. Has some minor stratches on the stock ect as well.

Yeah its 187XXXX seven digits. Winchester model 64 30-30 on barrel. I was going to measure the barrel lenght as well. I dont know if that makes a differance with this rifle or not. Tahnks!

Austin.

The barrel length makes a big difference. The Carbine version can bring as much as 50% more than the rifle version.

As I read this list of "sins" (for lack of originality), I began to have major doubts about buying a 1907 Model 94 (based on what I"m told is its serial#) that"s undergone some significant doctoring, with a differently designed stock (curved in the pistol grip) and lever replaced as well to conform with that curve, etc. What do you think? I"m just looking for a deer rifle, but would like one that"s well made, and am thinking older is better. Thanks,Bill BrownPittsburgh, PA

Hello Bill,

There are LOTS of Model 1894 and 94 rifles around and for sale all the time. I would pass on anything highly altered and just keep looking ofr an original rifle in decent shape and for a reasonable price. And before yo ubuy anything, get some photos of it and post them here and ask us for some input. It is easy and will save you maoney.

Hello Mike,

The serial number tells us that it is a 1950 vintage gun. The value is determined by a few different factors;

1. Which variation is it?

2. What is the graded condition?

Hello Jerry,

Your Model 64 Sporting Rifle was manufactured in the year 1950. The value is determined by the graded condition.

This is AKKIt looks as though the previous posts were deleted some how. The gun is a 30/30 SN 1952924. If you need some other pictures I would be happy to supply. Thanks again for your assistance and this site is great. I will be posting more questions about my other weapons and do research here before I buy.

They were not deleted. It is always best to start a new topic rather than tack onto a years old thread, do I split it off as a new topic. The entire post is still there and now you have two to track. http://www.les-grizzlys-catalans.org/winchester-rifle-question-320677.html

Lester,

Additionally, the information that you posted is erroneous. Accordingly, I deleted the picture you posted, and the second post.

I suggest that you find a better source of information, and do not copy it without attaining the requisite permission to do so.
